CCC electioneering at its peak

Every nook and corner of the port city wore a festive mood as the Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) polls are nearing and electioneering is becoming more festive day by day.
 The election campaign was also enlightened following the beginning of Baishaki Mela in the heart of the city.
All 42 wards of CCC have been vibrating with round-the-clock high-voltage polls campaign by the respective mayor and councilor candidates.
Everywhere, from tea stall to drawing rooms, premises of places of worships to social gatherings are dominated with election related sporadic discussions.
Many central top brass of the ruling Awami League and BNP are regularly visiting the premier port city and joining election campaigns to woo voters in favour of the two frontline mayoral candidates blessed by their respective parties.
AL-endorsed mayoral candidate AJM Nasir yesterday urged the city dwellers to give him a chance to turn Chittagong into a mega city in real sense of the term.
Nasir made the urge while conducting mass contact and canvassing vote to the employees of Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) and its garments workers Nasir said he has always dreamt for developing the city.
“I will turn the city into a mega city, if I am elected mayor,” said Nasir while conducting mass-contact with garments workers of CEPZ area.
On the other hand BNP-blessed mayoral candidate M Manjur Alam on the same day also begged votes for him in the upcoming polls through conducting and holding street rallies at Pathantully and Lalkhanbazar areas of the city.
During his electoral campaigns, Manjur claimed that mass support was swelling in favour of him as he worked for the welfare of the city residents in the last five years as their elected mayor.
