CCC demands Customs Appeal Tribunal in Ctg

President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce & Industry(CCCI) has urged the Chairman of National Board of Revenue to set up Customs Appeal Tribunal in Chittagong on emergency basis to launch their activities here soon.
 CCCI President has sent an urgent letter to NBR chairman yesterday .
 The letter was told that Chittagong Port city is the main working force for growth of GDP and economy of the country .
About 40 percent heavy industrial units , 3 public, private EPZs, two proposed economic zones, deep sea port are existing in Chittagong and it proceeding towards turning into a regional connectivity hub of south Asia in future, the letter added.
 Chamber President said 80 percent import and export activities are being conducted through Chittagong Port and the Chittagong Customs house is an organisation which earns about 90 percent revenue .
 He said lack of Appeal Tribunal in the Port city , the importers and exporters are compelled to go Dhaka frequently in connection with any customs disputes and appeal against the departmental verdict .
 Mentionable that Ministry of Finance in the meantime directed to concerned authority to set up a Appeal Bench in Chittagong but yet to be implemented , he said.
