Chittagong Bureau :Chittagong City Corporation ( CCC) and the Chitagong Development Authority( CDA) consensually agreed to work aimed at mitigating the prevailing waterlogging problems in the city . Both the city watchdogs jointly implement the drainage master plan to keep the city free from waterlogging. This is was decided at a meeting views exchanging held at City Corporation auditorium on Sunday . In the meet, City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin said eradication of waterlogging is not possible CCC lonely and it should be implemented through formulating drainage master plan jointly with CDA . He said a master plan for city was formulated 20 years ago and this master plan should be amended with the present reality of the situation. He further said people irrespective opinions should be involved in preparing the master plan with ascertaining the local problems through convening meetings in each wards. City Mayor said new master plan is most important and it is the demand of the hour because of Chittagong city a multi-dimensional mega city with unlimited future prospects. Chairman of Chittagong Development Authority Abdus Salam said it is the time of unity if the CCC and CDA work consensually , the face of the city will radically change . He said there was some mistakes in the previous master plan and following the rapid increase of city populations in all respect , new master plan with epoch making steps should be included. He further said a budget proposal of Tk.50 crores sent to the h igher authority for formulating a detailed area plan and master plan in the meantime. City Planner of CDA Shahidul Islam Khan presented different aspects of the master plan before the meet. CCC Secretary Rashid Ahmed, CDA Chief engineer Jasimuddin, Secretary Tahera Ferdous, city magistrate Nazia shirin and the senior officials of CCC and CDA were present in it duly presided by CCC chief Executive Officer Md. Shafiul Alam , a CCC sources said.
