A Bangladeshi cattle trader was beaten to death by members of Indian Border Force (BSF) on Putkhali frontier here early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Alim Khandker, 30, son of Yusuf Khandker, a resident of the Kashiani
upazila of Gopalganj district. BSF troops of Angrail camp of India took him to the camp and beat up him mercilessly while he was returning home with cattle through the border, said Lt Col Abdur, commander of BGB-23.
Local people recovered his floating body of Alim from the Ichhamati river and informed police. Police recovered the body around 1pm and sent it hospital morgue for an autopsy. The body bore several injury marks.
