Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has tarnished the image of Bangladesh at international level by resorting to terrorist activities in the name of politics.
“Khaleda wanted to make Bangladesh a failed state by patronizing militancy but she could not be successful” he made the comment on Friday while distributing cash money among riverbank erosion victims at Ilisha area here.
Tofail said many people in the district become victims due to river bank erosion every year making them either landless or homeless. The government has implemented a number of projects to check river bank erosion permanently, he added.
A total of 30 lakh cash money were distributed among 700 erosion-affected families in Ilisha area of the district. Acting deputy commissioner Md Mahabubur Rahman and leaders of district unit of Awami League, among others, spoke on the occasion.
