Case filed over Patuakhali triple murder

A case was filed against a number of unidentified people in connection with the triple murder at Sailbunia village in Galachipa upazila yesterday.
Idris Molla, brother of the victim Delwar Molla, filed the case with Galachipa Police Station in the morning, said police.
Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Inspector General of Barisal police range, Akram Hossain, visited the spot in the morning.
Earlier on Wednesday, police recovered the slaughtered bodies of a couple-Delwar Molla, 55, his wife Parvin Begum, 40, and their adopted daughter Kajoli Begum, 18 —.from their house at Sailabunia village in Galachipa upazila.
Locals went to the house in the afternoon after smelling bad odour coming from it and found the slaughtered bodies lying there, said Additional Police Super Mustafizur Rahman.
Later, police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital for autopsy, he added.
Miscreants tried to torch the victims’ house, police said adding that Delwar’s elder brother Hossain Molla’s son was killed in the similar fashion four months back.
All the three victims were made witnesses in the murder case, said police.
‘Robber’ killed in Habiganj ‘gunfight’
Habiganj, Aug 3 (UNB) – An alleged robber was killed in a reported gunfight between his cohorts and police on Baniachang-Shibpasha road in Anjan Bridge area in Baniachang upazila early Thursday.
Mozzammel Haq, officer-in-charge of Baniachang Police Station, said acting on secret information that a gang of robbers were taking preparation to commit robbery at the house of Ismat Mia at Isabpur village, a team of police went to the spot around 3:15 am.
Police arrested four suspected robbers – Saiful Islam Jhilik, Manu, Azam and Mantaz – from the spot.
Later, the law enforcers, along with the arrestees, conducted a drive in Anjan Bridge area around 4:00 am to arrest other members of the robber gang.
At one stage, the robbers opened fire to police, prompting the law enforcers to fire back, triggering a gunfight.
Jhilik sustained bullet injuries during the gunfight while four policemen were injured in the incident.
Later, Jhilik was taken to local hospital where the doctors declared him dead. Jhilik was wanted in several cases, said police.
However, the rest of the arrestees remain in police custody.
