A case has been filed over the murder of a woman and her teenage son, whose bodies were found inside their home at Sylhet’s Mirabazar area on Sunday.

Police recovered their bodies from a room on the ground floor of a three-storey building in the Mitali neighbourhood of Mirabazar in the middle of the day. The dead were identified as 40-year-old Rokeya Begum, wife of Helal Khan, and their son,
16-year-old Rabiul Islam Rupam. The couple has another daughter, Raisa Begum, 5, who was found alive on the ground floor, where the family rented a room. MA Wahab, additional deputy commissioner of metropolitan police, said none of the murder suspects were mentioned by name. But the case dossier says that four young local men, Shiplu, Paplu, Shipan and Maruf, allegedly entered the home, beat Rokeya and stole her mobile phone a few days ago. Tania, a domestic worker employed by the family, has been missing since the incident.
