UNB, Rangpur :
An Awami League leader was killed and five people were injured in an attack by rivals over a trifling matter at Shukurarhat in Mithapukur upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Nayon, 25, president of Moyanpur union unit of Awami League and son of Shamsul Alam Mondal.Officer-in-charge of Mithapukur Police Station Moyazzem Hossain said an altercation took place between Nayon and Chanchal after the Awami League leader’s tractor damaged seedlings on a seedbed.
At one stage, Chanchal and his men attacked Nayon and his followers with sharp weapons, leaving six of them injured. Of them, Nayon died on the way to hospital.
