A case has been filed against an unnamed number of people in connection with the murder of Christian grocer Sunil Gomej.
Victim’s daughter Swapna Gomej filed the case with Baraigram Police Station at around 10:30pm on Sunday, Monirul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of the Police Station said.
Sunil Gomej, 60, a grocer and a former employee of Banpara Christian Missionary, was hacked to death by unidentified assailants at Banpara Christian Palli in Baraigram Upazila of Natore on Sunday.
Middle East-based Islamic State (IS) has reportedly claimed the murder.
The US-based SITE Intelligence Group made the claim several hours after the murder, where it said that the militant group also claimed responsibility for the murder of Buddhist monk in Bandarban last month.
Meanwhile, the authorities have handed over the murder case to Detective Branch (DB) of Police after the Christian family filed the case.
Police said that they have detained one for questioning, but are yet to show him arrested in the case.
Natore DB Police Chief Abdul Hai said that the case did not accuse anyone and mentioned unidentified men.
