A case has been filed against a police constable for embezzling Tk 25 lakh in the name of sending it to Europe in the Jasshore court on yesterday.
Police Constable Mohammad Jewel is currently working in the Police Control Room at the Police Headquarters of Dhaka. Whose police ID number is 7202072619.
Jewel is a resident of Char Uttar Bhuterdia village in Babuganj upazila of Barisal district. The case was filed by Rakibul Islam, now a resident of Ghop DIG Road in Jashore Town. He is a resident of Jogania village in Naragati upazila of Narail district. Failing to send people abroad, Jewel handed over the check. Later it was dishonored. Then Rakibul filed the case.
Taking cognizance of the matter, Judicial Magistrate Saifuddin Hossain issued summons and fixed May 2 as the next day of the case.
The plaintiff in the case mentioned that Rakibul had a friendly relationship with Constable Jewel. Jewel works in the police and introduces himself to power. He said he could send people to Europe.
At this time Rakibul was interested to sending his own brother Mahmud Hasan and brother-in-law Al Amin to Europe. Jewel then demanded TK. 25 lakh. At the same time he promised to send them abroad within two months. On January 1, 2019, Jewel took 25 lakh taka. But fail to send them abroad. Jewel finally pledged a non-judicial stamp of TK. 300 on January 26, 2020, on condition that he return the money on December 1, 2020.
At the same time, Jewel handed over a check against the money. It was dishonored on December 16, 2020. Later, on January 13 this year, the lawyer sent a notice but Jewel did not listen. Rakibul was finally forced to file a case in the court on Thursday.
