A case was filed with Sailkupa police station as some miscreants on Wednesday vandalized two idols of the Hindu community during Gangapuja at Majhipara area of Jhaudia village under Sailkupa municipality. Two Hindu female devotees were injured when the attackers swooped on them. But the police could not arrest anyone in this connection, said the locals.
Kumaresh Chandra Biswas, president of Jhaudia Sarbajanin Durga Mandir Committee said, the Hindu community people were observing the Ganagapuja like past years. When they were preparing for diving the idols in the water of nearby Kumar River in the evening, some young men led by Suman and Biplab Seikh vandalized two idols Ganga and Bhagirathi. The attackers expressed their joy after vandalizing the idols, eyewitnesses said.
