Caring the lips in winter

Life Desk :
Being extremely sensitive, unloved lips tend to suffer a lot in the chilly weather. The most common issue that affects our lips is their constant chapped state.
Chapped lips trouble the hell out of everyone and here are the reasons you probably developed them in the first place.
Constant licking of lips: As the saliva evaporates from your lips, it leaves your lips feeling drier than before which results in a repetitive desire to lick your lips so avoid getting into this vicious cycle.
Dehydration: While you might not feel very thirsty in winters, just like your body, your lips need water to stay hydrated.
Lack of moisturisation: Lips need to be aptly nourished and protected from the weather by the usage of rich lip balms and chapsticks.
Having promised yourself to steer clear of repeating these offences, we suggest these two basic measures for perfecting your pout this winter:
Exfoliate: Just like your body, dead skin cells can accumulate on your lips. However the skin on your lips is super sensitive as compared to the rest of your body so using a soft exfoliator is the key. While you can buy a lip mask, making one yourself is no biggie. You simply need to mix a tablespoon of oil or honey with a tablespoon of sugar. Use a soft toothbrush to scrub your lips with the mix. Let it stay for two minute and wash off. Repeat the process twice a week to maintain the healthy glow of your lips.
Moisturise: A good session of exfoliation must always be followed by a great moisturizer to restore nourishment to your lips. Invest in a high quality lip balm or chapstick that is rich in shea butter, sunflower oil or Vitamin E. Avoid a waxy product as a coat might make your lips feel supple but the product actually prevents your lips from absorbing moisture. Try to pick a lip balm with adequate SPF for the much needed sun protection.
