Captain of foreign ship harassedat Mongla Port

An allegation was raised against a customs officer that he mentally harassed a captain (Master) of a foreign ship at Mongla Sea Port for he (customs officer) took away foreign cigarettes and some incidental materials forcibly from the ship, according to report received here. By this time the customs authorities have begun investigating the matter formally. When contacted, Mohammad Hossain Ahmed, Commissioner of the concerned Customs department told the newsmen, I have gone through the complaint lodged with the customs department against Arabindu Mali, Assistant Customs Officer lodged by the captain of the foreign ship.
The Customs Commissioner added, the complaint lodged by the captain of the ship is very serious and we have already started an investigation formally against Arabindu. It is stated in the complaint submitted to Customs Commissioner of Mongla Sea Port that on October 29 (2021) customs officer Arabindu Mali went to a foreign ship named MV. TBC Prestige of Arab Amirat carrying the flag of Panama and demanded foreign currencies and foreign cigarettes from its captain (Master) who refused to do and said, why shall I give you all those as it is not internationally permitted.
