Election Commissioner was exchanging views with candidates at the auditorium of Barishal Sher- e- Bangla Medical College Auditorium on Monday afternoon assured all about conducting free fair BCC election on a level playing field.
He said we do not want to see repetitions of the faults seen at the elections of Khulna or Gazipur. As national election would be ahead of this local government election like BCC, so we want to set a model of example here, the EC told.
Sarwar suggested to supply and set ballot boxes at the vote center on the morning of the election day instead of previous night to prevent election rigging by pre-filling of ballot papers.
Replying this the EC said due communication hazard and time needed for necessary preparation of taking vote, ballot boxes could not be reached on the same morning of the vote day.
However ballot and boxes would be under custody of election officials and guard of law enforcing agencies, Mahbub Talukdar added.
AL nominated mayor candidate Sadik Abdullah said that it was not his fault that his close relatives are in government or in ruling party. He only could say that he wants a free fair impartial election and wants that people will cast their votes without any fear.
JaPa nominated mayor candidate Iqbal Hossain Tapos, said election was peaceful in Khulna and Gazipur, but not acceptable to people. So we have nothing to tell if that would be repeated in Barishal.
The EC expressing his satisfaction about the environment of upcoming BCC election said it was better than other places and law enforcing agencies asked not to arrest or harass any body without accused in specified case.
The allegations of councilor candidates about violations of election conduct rules by using colorful propagation items like posters, stickers, giving threats etc., the Election Commissioner asked law enforcing agencies to take action against those allegations.
