A rebel chairman candidate contesting without the Awami League’s endorsement has boycotted the election in Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila, alleging irregularities. Mohiuddin Bakul announced his decision at a press conference in his house two hours after polling began at 8am on Monday. He alleged his polling agents had been driven out of the polling centre. Bakul demanded re-polling in the Upazila.
