A rebel chairman candidate contesting without the Awami League’s endorsement has boycotted the election in Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila, alleging irregularities. Mohiuddin Bakul announced his decision at a press conference in his house two hours after polling began at 8am on Monday. He alleged his polling agents had been driven out of the polling centre. Bakul demanded re-polling in the Upazila. He alleged RAB and criminals laid siege to his house the night before the election, threatening dire consequences if he ventured out before the results were out. – bdnews24.com
