Canada would provide the technological assistance to flourish country’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and economic development, said Benoît-Pierre Laramée, new High Commissioner of Canada to Bangladesh.
The Canadian High Commissioner gave the assurance while participating in a meeting with Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu at his office on Monday.
Currently, there prevails an investment and business friendly environment and the government is encouraging foreign investors by giving various incentives, said the Minister.
Already Japan, South Korea, China and India have showed their
immense interest to invest in the country, mentioned the Minister.
He sought for Canadian investment. “If the Canadian investors want to invest in the country, the government would provide its all out assistance”, said the Minister.
Canadian High Commissioner said, 90 percent industry in Canada is operating under SMEs. The proper utilization of modern technology and the productivity of the sector are very high in Canada, said the High Commissioner.
Technological transformation between the two countries can improve Bangladeshi SME sector, he opined.
He has underscored the need for applying modern technology in country’s SME sector for boosting economy.
SME Foundation Chairperson KM Habibullah, Additional Secretaries of Industry Ministry Sushen Chandra Das and Afroza Khan were also present in the meeting.
