Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury on Wednesday urged agricultural scientists to assist the farmers with their innovative research output which would be cost-effective, short duration and high yielding.
“The agricultural researchers must have to co-operate us by inventing cost-effective research output by taking three mandatory points like seed to seed short duration, less water use and high yielding in their mindset,” said the minister as the chief guest while addressing the inaugural session of 5th Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). The CGIAR established in 1971, is a strategic partnership of diverse donors that support 15 international Centers, Advisory Committee (CAC) Meeting here this morning.
In most of the cases, the agriculture minister said the research output become project-based as it usually had no further necessity. “Most of the project-based research findings have no further utility except in the demonstration plot ….and the research output become obsolete after completion of the project tenure,” she said.
