Early marriage of a girl reading in class X was foiled on Thursday afternoon(3 pm) by an emergency call to 999 at Bordoil under Sachar union in Kochua UZ.
The marriage of the girl, Lopa Akter(16), daughter of an expat Mizanur Rahman was scheduled to be solemnised with her relative, a young man of neighbouring Matlab South UZ. The girl reads in the local Kachiara Girls’ High School and so, an SSC examinee of the coming year under Cumilla Education Board.
On getting information through emergency call- 999 from a local man, Kochua Thana OC Mohammad Mohiuddin sent a Police team led by Sachar Police Outpost’s Sub Inspector Khairul Islam to the home of Lopa Akter.
Then , the UP Chairman also local AL leader, Monir Hossain and UP members informed the girl’s guardians about the Govt order and also convinced them of the adverse affect of early marriage.
Thus the early marriage was stopped and the girl was saved from premature marriage.
