11th Parliamentary election: Call to work in favour of Grand Alliance candidates

The dwellers of Chokoria and Pekua Upazila of Cox’s Bazar staying in the port city Chattogram vow to work for the nominees under Boat Symbol in Cox’s Bazar Constituency Jafar Alam.
In this connection, a meeting of views exchange was arranged at Chattogram Shishu Academy Auditorium by the dwellers of these two upazila on Friday.
 The speakers irrespective of caste and creed vow for working in favour of Jafar Alam, an AL nominee in that constituency.
Former MP Dr. Shamsuddin chowdhury presided over it. Among others President of Chokoria AL and nominee Jafar Alam, member of Cox’s Bazar Zilla Parishad Kamruddin Ahmed, Poura Mayor Alamgir Chowodhury, Zilla Parishad Panel Chairman Jahedul Islam, former mayor of Chowkoria Pourasava Anowarul Hakim, Principal of Cox’s Bazar Medical College Dr. Rezaul Karim and leaders of the component parties of Mohajote were present on the occasion.
EVM demo held in Chattogram-9 seat: Officials of Chattogram regional election office on Saturday gave a demonstration of electronic voting machine (EVM) in four venues under Chattogram-9 constituency in the port city. The officials demonstrated the use of EVM and answered voters’ queries, said election officer Munir Hossain Khan.
Munir said they would hold similar events in other areas of the constituency and take a mock voting, as the EC has decided to use EVM in Chattogrtam-9.
Awami League Organising Secretary Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel and BNP Chattogram City Unit President Shahadat Hossain are among 12 candidates vying for the seat in the national polls.

Aslam Chowdhury now in jail for alleged bankrupt and sabotage case pending before the court.
Mentionable that Chattogram Returning officer declared void of his nomination paper for Chattogram-4 constituency due to bankrupt on December 2 last and following his appeal before the EC, his nomination paper declared valid on Saturday.
BNP shares 5 seats to LDP, one KP: BNP shares 5 seats to Col Oli led Liberal Democratic Party and one seat to Kaylan Party of Maj.Gen.(R) Md Ibrahim.
This was apprised by the Joint Secretary of LDP Md. Shahdat Hossain to media persons on Saturday. Mentionable that LDP will contest in 2 seats in Chatogram viz.Chattogram-7 and Chattogram -14 and Comilla-7, Laxmipur-1 and Mymensingh-10 .
On the other hand Maj Gen(Retd) Ibrahim’s Kaylan Party will contest from Chattogram-4 constituency.
