JSD President and Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu called for uprooting the ‘Taliban’ styled politics in the country to foil the move to turn Bangladesh into Pakistan and Afghanistan. “Showing a little compassion on war criminals, terrorists and militants can invite possible threats in the country again,” he said this on Saturday while addressing a two-day National Committee meeting ofJatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) at Col. Taher auditorium in the city.In this connection, he said all democratic forces have to remain alert against any move to foil democracy until the BNP Chief Begum Khaleda Zia does not sever relations with militants, terrorists and war criminals.”There is no room of war criminals and extremists in democracy and they should not be enjoyed democratic rights there,” he added.Referring to the recently concluded 10th parliamentary election, the JSD President alleged that the BNP Chairperson had tried to provoke the armed forces prior to the January 5 election.”There may be questions regarding the election, but holding the polls were mandatory to keep continuity of the constitution and the democracy as well,” he added. He said the 10th parliamentary election was held in time and under the constitutional provision to save the country from a possible crisis. The minister said that Khaleda Zia had proved herself as an ally of extremist and fundamentalist groups by giving her support to Jamaat-e-Islami leaders who committed crimes against humanity during the country’s War of Independence in 1971. At the very outset of the meeting, JSD office secretary Anwarul Islam Babu read out obituary references while JSD General Secretary Sharif Nurul Ambia, Executive President Moinuddin Khan Badal MP, standing committee member Shirin Aktar MP, Joint General Secretary Nazmul Haque Prodhan MP and Begum Lutfa Taher spoke on the occasion.Besides, leaders of different political parties and professional bodies, presidents and secretaries of district committees, advisory council members and central committee members of the party, among others, were present at the meeting.
