Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique urged the younger generation to uphold the spirit of the War of Liberation to advance the country towards light.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that,” Quoting Martin Luther King the VC said, adding that it is the duty of the new generation to drive out the darkness from the society. Dr Arefin said this on Saturday was addressing as the chief guest a discussion marking the Pitha (cake) Festival at Masterda Surja Sen Hall on the DU campus.
Prime Minister’s Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury and Convenor of Masterda Surja Sen Hall Alumni Association Sirajum Munir spoke at the function as special guests with Hall Provost Prof ASM Maksud Kamal in the chair.
Principal Information Officer M Aminul Islam also spoke at the function.
Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury urged the new generation to exercise their merits to build up a prosperous country to implement the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Later, Surja sen Alumni Association handed over ten computers and mosquito killing fogger machine to the Surja Sen Hall.
