President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) and information minister Hasanul Huq Inu called upon the newly nominated US envoy to Bangladesh Bernicot to stop the Israeli attack in Gaza before criticizing the January 5, 2014 election in Bangladesh.
He referred to the killing of over three hundred civilian casualties and said these were crimes against humanity. The minister said this on Sunday while addressing a rally in front of the Jatiya Press Club in protest against the Israeli attack. The meeting chaired by the convener of the party’s city unit, Mir Hossain Akhter, was also addressed by other party leaders.
Inu recalled that the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had stood by the Palestinians from the early days of independence. He said, “The people of this country are with the Palestinians and will remain so.”
He also condemned the Israeli air raids on civilian targets. The president of JSD said, “The US is patronizing Israel to destabilize the region.” He recalled that the US had also opposed the war of liberation in 1971 and now they were providing support to the BNP-Jamaat Alliance.
The information minister added that his party had always stood for self-determination, humanity, democracy and peace. It may be recalled that Israel has started an attack on the Gaza strip following a purported kidnapping of three Israeli children on July 8, 2014.
