Awami League (AL) Advisory Council Member Suranjit Sengupta directed the AL activists to remain alert against the BNP’s movement, saying the opposition might carry out subversive activities against the government in the name of movement.
“The month ‘August’ is not only a mourning month for AL but this month is also a curse for the party…AL leaders and activists should be more alert against the conspiracy of BNP, because they might carry out subversive activities against the government,” Suranjit said.
He said this on Saturday while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on ‘Current Politics’ arranged by Bangabandhu Academy (BA) at Institute of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh at city’s Kakrail area.
The government will not bar the movement of BNP if it opts for non-violent and harmless action programme, but the government’s action will be tough if they try to create anarchy in the name of movement, he said.
Vice-President of Dhaka Mohanagar AL Fayez Uddin Mia, Director, Board of Directors, Rupali Bank Limited, Barrister Zakir Ahmed, and former President of Dhaka Mohanagar Zuba league (South) Minhaz Uddin Mintu also spoke with BA Advisor Haji Mohammad Selim in the chair.
Suranjit Sengupta, also the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, said, “Conspiracy against our leader Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is still going on, so we need to be more conscious to foil any kind of conspiracy of BNP.”
