International Public Service Day-2017 was celebrated in Gaibandha district on Friday in a befitting manner with a call to provide departmental services to the people through innovative ideas without any hassle.
This year’s theme of the day is “The Future in Now: Accelerating Public Service Innovation for Agenda 2030”.
Marking the day, a huge colorful rally led by deputy commissioner (DC) Goutam Chandra Pal was brought out from Independence Square around 9.30 am and ended in front of Zila Shilpakala Academy (ZSA) after parading the main thoroughfares of the town.
Later, a discussion meeting organized by district administration was held in the auditorium of ZSA at 10 am with Additional deputy commissioner (General) Mohammad Mizanur Rahman in the chair. DC Goutam Chandra Pal attended the function and addressed it as the chief guest and Police super M. Masrukur Rahman Khaled, civil surgeon Dr. Amir Ali, deputy director of Local Government Department, Gaibandha M. Shafiqul Islam, deputy director of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), District office AKM Ruhul Amin were present at the event as special guests. The meeting was also addressed, among others, by district livestock officer Dr. Abdul Latif, district information officer Sabiha Lucky, district women affairs officer Shahnaz Akter, and journalist Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman while assistant commissioner M. Rakibul Islam was the moderator.
DC Goutam Chandra Pal in his speeches said the country had already achieved millennium development goal and was going to achieve sustainable development goal by 2030 along with turning Bangladesh into a middle income country by 2021 and developed one by 2041.
In this context, the DC urged the officials and the employees to discharge their duties with sincerity, honesty and dedication and to gear up the development activities by ensuring their services to the people. Earlier, a documentary on reducing road accidents was screened by police super M. Masrukur Rahman Khaled using a multimedia projector.
Almost all the district level officials of government and autonomous organizations and the officials of the district administration including journalists of print and electronic media took part in the functio.
