Call to plant more trees for creating green Bangladesh

Major General Mohammad Humayun Kabir, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 17th Infantry Division of Jalalabad Cantonment, has urged all concerned to plant more trees to build a green Bangladesh.
Inaugurating a tree plantation programme at ‘Bir Tila’ here on Thursday, Gen Kabir said a green Bangladesh would maintain an ecological balance.
He said there is no alternative to plant saplings to build a beautiful and habitable world for the next generation.
He also urged all to come forward to plant different kinds of saplings for maintaining ecological balance as well as protection of bio-diversity of the country.
The GOC hoped that a large number of people of Sylhet should follow this tree plantation programme in planting of fruit bearing, timber and medicinal saplings for the sake of increasing fruit production in the country and to protect environment from the catastrophe of climate change.
About 4,000 saplings of various fruits bearing, timbers and medicinal were planted in the cantonment area under the programme.
All officers, officials concerned and jawans were present on the occasion.
