Land Minister Shamsur Rahman said the government has ensured rights of women to land to enhance their dignity and security in society.
“It is urgent to establish rights of women to land for their empowerment in social life,” he told a seminar titled ‘Rights of women to land’ at the Jatiya Press Club here.
Kurigram Rural Development Cell organized the seminar with its executive director Beauty Rani Chowdhury in the chair. State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Narayan Chandra Chand, President of Awami Swechchhasebak League Molla Md. Abu Kauser, Prof Mesbah Kamal of Dhaka University, representatives of different government and non-government organizations, among others, addressed the seminar.
Shamsur said participation of women in different fields of development has increased significantly due to time-befitting initiatives of the government. The increased trend of women participation should be continued to turn Bangladesh into a middle income country, he added.
