Speakers at a function urged the physicians to ensure healthcare services to the rural people particularly the poor and disadvantaged ones to build a healthy nation.
“In this context, the physicians can play vital role to attain the cherished goal if they are so much active and cordial to reach their medicare services to the door steps of the common people”, they said.
They made the comments on Wednesday while addressing a view and filed level experience sharing meeting with the deputy commissioner (DC) at his conference room in Gaibandha.
Gana Shastha Kendra (GSK), Gaibandha region office, arranged the meeting for the 4th year students of MBSS, BDS and Physiotherapy courses of 17th batch of Gano Bishwabidyaloy affiliated Gano Shastha Community Based Medical College as part of their month long field level activity.
DC M. Ehsan-e-Elahi said healthcare services is one of the major fundamental rights of all the citizens so that the doctors should provide medicare services to all properly.
The DC also advised the doctors to change their mindset and go to the rural areas to provide the healthcare services to the common people particularly the poor and the destitute to build a healthy nation and achieve millennium development goal of the government as well.
The meeting was also addressed, among others, by professor of the college Dr Shahab Uddin Ahmed, pathologist M Shahin, regional director of GSK Kaosar Ali Reza and student Shamim Quazi.
Earlier, the students presented their experience gathered from the villages in the district in the function and sought cooperation of the administration to run the healthcare activities in the rural areas smoothly.
A total of 30 students including 16 female ones of the bishwabidyaloy took part in the views sharing meeting.
