Port activities hostage by vested quarter: Call to declare Saif Power Tech blacklisted in CPA

Former City Mayor and President of City Awami League ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury said the port activities became stranded and hostage by a vested quarter.
The revenues of the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) is being misappropriated through illegally appointed cargo handling operator Saif Power Tech.
 A vested quarter of CPA has entrusted work of cargo handling activities to a particular cargo handling operator one after another defying the lawful procedures. Without pre-experiences of Stevedoring work, Saif PowerTech is being engaged gradually with the best interest of a vested quarters.
 After expiry of terms of agreement , Saif Power Tech is illegally engaged in NCT terminal. AL leader and former Mayor was addressing a views exchange meeting with the Chittagong Dock Bandar Sramik Karmachari Parishad at Zila Parishad Hall in the city on Tuesday evening.
Mohiuddidn Chowdhury warned that all deals with the Saif Power should be cancelled as the operator has no valid operating licenses and inexperienced and the SaifPower Tech should be declared void and black listed.
 Former Mayor also accused that CPA every year observe Port Day but no workers deprived of attending the port Day function as these workers work hard to reach the goal of the port target. He said Prime Minister earlier directed to procure the required operating equipment for NCT terminal to run the New Mooring Terminal at CPA own supervision. He finally declared the Saif Power as void and blacklisted operator .
 Besides, an emergency meeting of District Muktijudda Sangsad was held at its city office premises on Tuesday with district FF commander Shahabuddin in the chair.
 The meeting demanded declaration of Saif Power Tech as blacklisted and probe into irregularities of misappropriation of port revenues by illegally engaging the container handling operator, sources said.
