BSS, Rangpur :
Vice-chancellor (VC) of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah has called for building a green nature through tree plantation to improve environment amid changing climate.
“Massive forestation through tree plantation can create an eco-friendly green nature for adapting to the adverse impacts of climate change and bringing ecological equilibrium for attaining sustainable economic development,” he said.
Dr Kalimullah said this while launching the Global Tree Plantation Movement styled “Green Hands” by planting a tree sapling at a function held on the campus of the university on Sunday afternoon as the chief guest, a press release said yesterday.
The Rotaract Club of BRUR organised the function with sponsorship of Rotary Club of Rangpur to launch the tree plantation movement on the university campus as elsewhere in the country and the globe under the SEARIC MDIO project.
Presided over by President of Rotaract Club of BRUR Rotarian Khalid Saifullah, its general secretary Rotarian Mohammad Abdullah moderated the function.
The chief guest urged the students, youths and common people for planting at least three tree saplings annually in their educational institutions, homesteads, roadside areas and fallow lands to build a green nature with eye-catching looks all-around.
