Cable operator killed in city, 2 held

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Detective Branch (DB) arrested two suspected persons over murder of cable operator Hamidul Islam from Dhaka on Monday.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (DC) Walid Hossain confirmed the matter on Monday night and said that details will be revealed in a press conference on Tuesday.
Hamidul stabbed to death hear the capital’s High Court area on Saturday night. Later his relatives identified him in Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The family said that they fail to understand who killed him. They suspected that it may be happened by muggers or rival person.
However, police suspected that Hamidul was killed by a professional mugger group.
The deceased’s younger brother Wahidul Islam claimed that Hamidul was the general secretary of Bangladesh Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD)’s Shahbagh unit. He lived in Sagunbagicha area with his family.
Since 1990, Hamidul has been running the cable operating business in and around Segunbagicha. Manager Sadeq met Hamidul in front of the High Court shrine at around 8pm on Saturday and paid him Tk 12,000 for renting a house. Later Sadeq went to Siddique Bazar and Hamidul went to his house, he added.
The case was transferred to DMP DB on Monday for intensive investigation, he added.
