England ODI captain Joseph Charles Buttler is expecting an excellent series when they will play hosts Bangladesh in a three-match series beginning on Friday.
“It’ll be a very competitive series. Our players are eagerly waiting to play the series. Hope it will be an excellent series,” Buttler told a press conference at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) on Sunday.
Replying to a query in his first appearance before the media after arriving in Dhaka on Friday, the English captain endorsed that Bangladesh have been playing excellent cricket from the last one and a half years, especially in the home condition.
He also informed that they were getting a stringent security here.
The England team had a practice session that started with football at SBNCS after the press conference amid tight security.
The visiting side will start their much-hyped tour with a one-day practice match against BCB XI at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Saturday announced a 13-man BCB XI for the practice match.
English ODI side will play the first two matches of the day-night series at SBNCS on October 7 and 9. The 3rd ODI is scheduled to be held at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chittagong on October 12.
Alastair Nathan Cook will lead the English Test side in this tour for a two-match series starting at the ZACS on October 20. The 2nd Test will start on October 28 at the SBNCS.
Ahead of the Test series, the visitors will play two two-day warm-up matches against BCB XI at MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong. The 1st warm-up match will begin on October 14 while the 2nd one on October 16.
England ODI squad: Jason Roy, Sam Billings, Ben Stokes, James Vince, Jos Buttler (captain cum wk), Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Ben Duckett, Liam Dawson, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid, Jake Ball, David Willey, Chris Woakes and Mark Wood.
