Businessmen urged to keep essentials’ prices stable in Ramzan

Discussants in a function here on Thursday urged the business communities to keep the prices of essentials stable during the upcoming month of Ramzan considering its sanctity.
“It is the foremost duty of the businessmen to keep the food items free from adulteration, formalin and carbide and to make the hotels and the restaurants including their business establishment clean in the honor of holy month of Ramzan “, they said.
They made the appeal while addressing an opinion exchange meeting with the business community leaders at the conference room of deputy commissioner (DC) here with acting DC Abu Bakar Siddique in the chair.
District administration arranged the meeting on ‘Protecting the sanctity of Ramzan and keeping the prices of essentials stable in the month of Ramzan’, as per the directives of the Ministry of Commerce.
The meeting was addressed, among others, by deputy director of local government section Mokhlesur Rahman, additional district magistrate Farid Ahammad, Gaibandha Poura Mayor Shamsul Alam, district market investigator Shah Moazzem Hossain, business leader Maksudar Rahman Sahan, meat seller Manju Miah and journalist Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman.
Like the previous year, the business leaders agreed to open two fair price shops at DB Road of the town to help the poor and fixed income group people of the town to purchase the essentials like pulse, Chhola, sugar and soybean oil at cheap rate during the holy month.
Besides, decisions were also taken to conduct anti- adulteration drive and to operate mobile courts in the kitchen markets of the district to check selling adulterated food items to the innocent customers.
