Businessmen for incentives to recoup losses due to hartal

Leaders of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) have sought special incentives including waver of interests to recoup losses incurred by the businessmen and industrialists following recent political unrests.
They were addressing a views-sharing meeting on ‘Various problems being faced by affected businessmen and industrialists due to political unrests’ organised by RCCI at its auditorium on Friday night with its President Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu in the chair.
Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB) S K Sur Chowdhury was the chief guest in the meeting.
General Manager (GM) of Rangpur Branch of BB Md Bazlar Rahman Mollah, former Vice-president of FBCCI and its incumbent Director Mostafa Azad Chowdhury Babu and former RCCI President Mosaddek Hossain Bablu addressed the meeting as special guests.
High officials of different public and private sector banks and financial institutions, leaders of different business community organisations, civil society members, professionals, journalists and elite of the city participated in the meeting.
In their speeches, the business community leaders elaborately narrated as how the businessmen, entrepreneurs, industrialists as well as the rural farmers have been severely affected by the recent political unrests in the country and suffered huge losses.
The shops, markets, industries, productivity, trade and commerce remained stranded and the produced agro-products could not be sold causing huge damages to the national economy due to the recent hartals, indefinite blockades and political unrests, they said.
In his speech, the BB Deputy Government agreed with the problems being faced by the business community people and assured them of raising these issues to the concerned higher authorities of the government for taking necessary actions.
