Businessman shot dead in city

Siddique Hossain, 55, owner of the MS Munshi Overseas Manpower Recruitment Agency, was murdered by some unidentified miscreants for extortion in the city’s Banani area on Tuesday night.
Moshtak Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner (Gulshan Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said that Siddique was killed as his family members failed to pay extortion money.
The murder was committed according to plan of the local extortion ists gang, the police official said.  
Police are examining the evidence and clues found from the crime scene.
 “We collect the CCTV footage and are investigating the murder incident on three
aspects – family, business-related feud and long standing feud,” he said. He said that, at least four criminals entered the office of recruiting agency and killed Siddique Munshi Tuesday night. The injured are: Mirza Parvej, 30, Mokhlesur Rahman, 35, and Mustafizur Rahman, 39.They were admitted to United Hospital for treatment.
Four to six men of a gang entered his office at House No.113, Banani-4, around 8:30pm on Tuesday and shot him, said Abdul Matin, Inspector (Investigation) of Banani Police Station. The victims were taken to Gulshan’s United Hospital, where Hossain later died, the police official said.
Police are looking for a motive behind the shooting, the Inspector said.
Abu Jafor, a witness and an employee of the office told the New Nation on Wednesday, “The assailants aged between 25 to 30 entered the office by putting masks on faces and shot Siddique around 8:30pm.”
They also looted money from drawer and fled from the spot instantly, he said. Siddique hailed from Ghatail upazila of Tangail district, according to him.
