Staff Reporter :Business and other official works are reportedly hampered in the city’s Gulshan diplomatic area following Holey Artisan Bakery attack, as the law enforcement agencies have wrapped entire diplomatic enclave in a tight security blanket.Already four more police check-posts have been set up in the diplomatic area, raising the total number of check-posts to 18 in different strategic places.Although the police had held a meeting with hotel and restaurant owners in and around the diplomatic zone after the attack, it could not speed up the business activities due to fear and panic of general people.Several residents of Gulshan area on Wednesday said that they were still in fear and not ‘feeling comfortable’ even in such a high-security arrangement. It is learnt that the restaurants and eateries now remain almost unfilled, as customers do not show interest to come. Especially, the foreigners are avoiding the café and other public places after July 1 incident.Besides, the security personnel have imposed restriction on parking of vehicles in front of restaurants and other business establishments, which is another big reason for discouraging the people.”Customers are not coming like earlier…..their number is very few. They do not feel easy. Police are also giving scope to park vehicles in the road side, or in front of restaurants,” said an owner of a café requesting not to be named. He said that economic activities have been halted in the recent days due to excessive restriction in the name of security arrangement.  Assistant Commissioner Ashraful Karim said, “It was nothing but a strategic meeting for discussing security of the hotels, restaurants and other establishments.” He said, “The hotel and restaurant owners were asked to strengthen their personal security. They were also asked to remain in touch with police to prevent any untoward incident at the soonest.”
