A bus was torched in the city’s Mirpur area on Sunday evening, ahead of the countrywide daylong hartal called by Jamaat for Monday.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is set to enforce the nationwide dawn-to-dusk hartal protesting for what it said ‘planned killing’ of its leader Muhammad Kamaruzzaman.
Police said pro-hartal elements set the bus of ‘New Vision Paribahan’ afire near Ward-8 community centre at Zoo Road around 8:50 pm.
However, local people doused the flame and no injury was reported in the incident.
