Staff Reporter :A passenger bus was set on fire by the angry mob after it ran over a 12-year-old boy in the city’s Dhanmondi area on Wednesday afternoon.The victim was identified as Fahim Ahmed, son of Palash Ahmed from Sreepur upazila in Gazipur district. He along with his family came to visit his maternal grandfather’s house at Hajaribagh in the capital.Police picked up the driver of the killer bus, heading towards Azimpur from Gazipur.The driver was identified as Delwar Hossain, police said.Noor-a-Azam Mia, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhanmondi Police Stationsaid that a bus hit Fahim near Anwar Khan Medical College and Hospital around 1:30pm. His mother and brother were with him when the accident took place.Fahim was brought dead at the hospital around 1:40pm, the police official said.Angry mob set the bus on fire following the accident, he said.Two units from Mohammadpur fire service office doused the fire, the OC said. The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy, he said. A case was filed in this connection, the OC added.
