Members of the Narcotics Control Department (NCD) on Thursday arrested a bus driver with 5000 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from city’s Fringibazar area under Kotwali thana.
The arrested was identified as Mohammad Mujibor Rahman, 45, a driver of Dhaka-bound Shayamoli passenger bus from Cox’s bazaar district.
On a tip-off, a team of the NCD detained the bus driver from the area at about 6 am and recovered the yaba tablets from the cassette player box of the bus, said Ali Aslam, Deputy Director of NCD, Metro area. The arrested person confessed to the police that he brought the yaba tablets from Cox’s Bazar for selling those in Dhaka.
Abul Kashem, NCD Inspector of Metro area filed a case with Kotwali Thana under Narcotics Control Act in this regard.
