64,000 homeless families to be rehabilitated, JS told

Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif said the government would rehabilitate 50,000 and provide khas land among 14,000 homeless families. “The government would rehabilitate 50,000 landless, homeless, address less and river erosion affected families on khas land under second phase of the Guchhagram Project (Climate Victims Rehabilitation),” he said this on Sunday while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member M Sohrab Uddin in the Jatiya Sangsad.
The minister also said that the government has undertaken a programme to provide khas land among 14,000 landless families under Char Development and Settlement Project-4. “We have rehabilitated 5,400 landless families under the second phase of the Guchhagram Project (Climate Victims Rehabilitation) and provided khas land among 11,854 families under Char Development and Settlement Project-4,” he added. Sherif informed the House that the government leased 4-8 decimal khas land against both the husband and wife as well as against any widow.
