‘Burn & Plastic Surgery Instt to be inaugurated in next year’

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim said ‘Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute’ would be inaugurated in September, 2018 aiming to make treatment facilities available for burn patients.
” The world’s biggest 500-bed Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute and Hospital after the name of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be inaugurated in September, 2018,” he said.
“Bangladesh Army has been constructing the institute with efficiency,” he said this recently while speaking with newsmen after visiting the construction work of the institute in city’s Chankharpul area.
The minister expressed his hope that thousands of burn victims will receive advanced treatment in the hospital once it is completed.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the construction work on April 6,
2016, by laying the foundation stone of the institute.
The 12-storey building is being built on three blocks including a Burn
block, Plastic block and academic block.
Lieutenant Colonel Shakil briefed the minister about the progress of the
construction work.
Secretary of the Ministry (Health Services Division) M Serajul Huq Khan,
Secretary (Health education) Foyez Ahmed, Dhaka Medical College Hospital
(DMCH) Director Brigadier General AKM Nasir Uddin AKM Nasiruddin, DMCH Burn
and Plastic Surgery Unit Coordinator Dr Samanta Lal Sen and Project Director
of the Institute Professor Dr Abul Kalam accompanied the Health Minister
Mohammad Nasim during the inspection.
