BUET Max+7 clinches DIU championship

Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology (BUET) Max+ 7 team became champion and BUET Onion Team became 1st runner up in the Daffodil National Collegiate Programming Contest 2014. Shahjalal University of Sciene and Technoloy team, SUST_bat-bateans became 2nd Runner Up and DIU Primitive team of Daffodil International University (DIU) won the 3rd position in the competition.
Daffodil International University hosted this most prestigious computing event National Collegiate Programming Contest (NCPC) 2014 in association with Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) on last Friday at DIU Auditorium in the capital. A total of 115 teams from 52 Public and Private Universities are participating the Daffodil NCPC 2014.
Md. Nazrul Islam Khan, Secretary, ICT Division, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology (MoPTIT) inaugurated the contest while DIU Vice Chancellor Prof M Lutfar Rahman welcomed all the coaches, contestants and participants. He encouraged all the contestants to take the challenge of future digitalization of Bangladesh.
In the opening remarks Prof Dr SM Mahbub-Ul-Haque Majumder, Dean, Faculty of Science and Information Technology stressed on the development of problem solving for all young talented minds.
The contest director Prof Dr Syed Akhter Hossain reminded the code of conducts of NCPC 2014 and encouraged all contestants for problem solving skills.
ACM-ICPC Head of Bangladesh Council Prof Abu Laise Haque inspired all the contestants for getting ready to win better positions in upcoming ACM-ICPC contests. The Chief Judge of NCPC 2014 Prof M Kaykobad addressed the coaches and contestants and inspired for the best performance in NCPC 2014.
The chief guest of the inauguration function Md. Nazrul Islam Khan, Secretary, ICT Division, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology (MoPTIT) in his speech inspired the young talented minds to get ready for the development of Digital services for happy and prosperous Bangladesh. NI Khan also thanked this great initiative of arranging competitive programming contest in association with Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC). He also inspired all the talented programmers to come-up with the idea of innovation projects and contribute in the development of application services for the greater community of the country. He said that the present government is determined to form her committed “Digital Bangladesh” and working accordingly. By this time, People already started getting some of its benefits, NI Khan said.  
Addressing as the chief guest in the closing and Award distribution ceremony, Imran Ahmed, MP said, ICT is the most thrust sector for development of any country now a days, if we can patronize this sector properly, this sector can contribute maximum to the process of our economic development and national GDP, he added.
He also said, to accelerate the knowledge based economy, our young talents should more come forward and engage themselves in ICT sector and it is our responsibility to ensure proper environment for them. He hoped that through this programming contest organized by DIU, our young talents will get the opportunity to explore their hidden talent and creativity which will help them to face the challenges in broader aspects.
