The Department of Economics of Stamford University Bangladesh had organized a seminar on National Budget FY 2017-18 at the department premises of city’s Dhanmondi area recently.
Chairman of the department, AProf Dr Md. Habibur Rahman presided the event where faculty members and students of the department discussed the opportunities and the constraints of thecurrent budget.
The chairman gave a brief speech on the whole budget and he mentioned that the size of the 46th effective budget of Bangladesh has been fixed at Tk 400,266 crore which is 17 percent more in monetary terms than the previous year.
The government has announced a deficit budget. But the speed of the development process of Bangladesh is moving at a positive pace for which implementation of such a budget is not a big problem.
The faculty members and students of the department attended the seminar spontaneously to learn and share their views about the budget for FY 2017-18.
