BTB programme to celebrate World Tourism Day

Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) has chalked out series of programmes to celebrate the World Tourism Day on September 27 like elsewhere on the globe under the theme “Tourism and Community Development”.
“Like previous years, we have chalked out various programmes for Dhaka and the districts marking the day,” Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BTB Akhtaruz Zaman Khan Kabir told journalists at a press conference at BTB’s conference room here today.
The day’s programme will begin with a colourful rally. Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon and state minister for CHT Affairs Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing will lead the rally, starting from Matsha Bhaban at 8.30 am to TSC of Dhaka University via Doel Chattar. The BTB will also arrange colourful rallies and discussion meetings on various aspects of tourism in different districts with tourist attractions.
The BTB, the National Tourism Organization (NTO) will be responsible for organizing all the programmes under the supervision of Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry in collaboration with tourism related stakeholders including Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) and different associations of the tour operators, hotel and motel owners and travel agents, Kabir said.
The BTB CEO said this year theme of the day is very important especially for Bangladesh as tourism industry can play vital role in community development of the country.
Additional Secretary of civil aviation and tourism ministry Abu Hena M Rahmatul Munim also spoke at the press briefing.
As part of the celebration, The BTB will organise debate competition on tourism at TSC Cafeteria of Dhaka University with support from Dhaka University Debating Society at 3 pm.
The BPC and BTB along with other stakeholders will hold a roundtable discussion on this year’s theme of the day at Hotel Abakash at Mohakhali at 4 pm.
The Bangladesh government will arrange a special reception with souvenirs for the foreign tourists, who will arrive at Hajrat Shahjalal Airport on the day.
The BPC will organize food festival at its outlets along with other renowned hotels from September 26 to 28 to mark the day.
The national daily newspapers will publish special supplement while television and radio will broadcast various programmes marking the day.
