Formalin-free drive: BSTI fined 7 fruit traders

Bangladesh Standard & Testing Institute (BSTI) conducted drive against the formalin- mixed fruits in the city on Sunday .
 Mobile court of BSTI conducted this drive at Bahaddarhat and Station road fruit markets .
In their drive, 7 fruit traders were fined with Tk.75 thousands for alleged selling of formalin mixed fruits in the market. During the drive, the mobile team damaged 560 kgs mango, 78 kgs malta and about 4000 lichis. The mobile court led by Executive Magistrate of District administration Tamim al Yameen andHabibul Hasan separately. The mobile court accompanied by BSTI officials, district administration, and police.
The penalized fruit traders of Station road are M/s Mam Enterprise, M/s. Javel Rahman, and M/s Hasan Enterprise.
Owner of Mam Enterprise fined with Tk.20 thousand, owner of Javel Rahman Tk.25 thousand and the owner of Hasan Enterprise Tk.25 thousand.
On the other hand, the drive was conducted in four fruit shops in Bahaddarhat, sources said.
Fruit traders of Bahaddar hat Md. Alamgir , Mir ahmed, Md. Showkat and Md. Elias have been fined with Tk.5 thousand, Tk.5 thousand, Tk. 5 thousand and Tk.10 thousands respectively.
Meanwhile , 2000 pieces of Lichi were found in an abandoned position at station road and these lichis were destroyed by the team.
