BSF picks up 5 Bangladeshis

In separate incidents, members of Border Security Force (BSF) of India picked up five Bangladeshi cattle
traders along border in Lalmonirhat and Jessore districts on Tuesday.
In Lalmonirhat, the BSF members picked up four Bangladeshi cattle traders from Shamshernagar border area of Patgram upazila in the early hours.
The victims are Sabu Islam, 25, Mominur Rahman, 27, of Kottali area, Nabu Hossain, 28, and Merajul Islam Gathu of Panchbhandar area of the upazila.
The BSF troops of Jolpaiguri Falakata Battalion picked up them from near the 859 No pillar when they were returning from India with cattle through the area,
said LT Col Ahmed Bazlur Rahman, commanding officer of Lalmonirhat BGB-15 Battalion.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sent a letter to the BSF asking for a flag meeting to return the Bangladeshi nationals, he said.
In Jessore, the BSF men picked up Azizur Rahman, 32, son of Chand Ali of Shibnathpur village of Sharsha upazila, from the bank of the Ichhamati River along Putkhali border point area of Benapole in the early hours.
Locals said BSF troops from Angrail camp picked up Azizur from the area when he was returning home from India with cattle through the border. Later, the BSF members beat him and handed him over to Ghaigata police station of 24 Parganas district.
Subedar Abdul Haque Azizur Rahman of BGB Battalion 23 confirmed the incident.
