Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) has started selling advance tickets of its special bus services since Wednesday morning on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
The tickets will be sold from Motijheel, Joar Shahara, Kalyanpur, Gabtoli, Mohammadpur, Mirpur double decker depot, Narayanganj bus depot and Fulbaria counter of the capital city.The ticket selling will continue till 20 September, said a BRTC official.
Any queue of passengers was not seen at Kalyanpur BRTC bus depot. People, who are coming here, are seen leaving with tickets. Counter master Aminul Islam said that, we will face pressure of passengers when garment workers get Eid bonus.
Road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said, a total of 1,043 BRTC buses will ply across the country. He said that additional 502 buses will run from Dhaka to other destinations while 61 will be kept as reserve.
The special service will be operational from September 23 for holidaymakers. A 24-hour control room service will be provided from BRTC headquarters in city’s Allenbari area from September 22 to 28 on the occasion of the Eid, he added.
Meanwhile, advance sale of launch tickets for Eid-ul-Azha began in the capital from Tuesday. The launch tickets were sold from the newly made built in the west side of the launch terminal of Sadar Ghat in the capital.
The Shipping Minister said that no passengers would be allowed without tickets and action would be taken against launch owners if theyallow additional passengers in launches.
Shahjahan Khan also said that launch accidents are decreasing day by day. At total of 31 accidents took place in 2004 but only five accidents took place in 2015.
