Walton U-18 Football: Brothers Union face Saif Sporting in opener today

Brothers Union will face Saif Sporting Club in the opening match of the Walton Under-18 Football Tournament at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today. The match kicks-off at 3.15 pm.
In the day’s other match, Dhaka Abahani Limited will meet Farashganj Sporting Club at 5.30 pm at the same venue.
Bangladesh Football Federation has arranged the football competition, while Walton Group is the title sponsor of the football meet. The competition is powered by Premier Bank Limited.
The logo-unveiling programme and a press conference were held at the conference room in BFF House on Wednesday. Senior Vice-President of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Abdus Salam Murshedy, General Secretary of BFF Md Abu Nayeem Shohag, Head of Media Committee of BFF Amirul Islam Babu, Senior Operative Director (Head of Games & Sports Department) of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn were present, among others.
A total of 12 teams splitting into four groups are competing in the first phase of the tournament. Top two teams from each group will get tickets of the last eight. The winners of the quarter-finals will play in the semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals will face each other in the final. The winners of the final will be the champions of the tournament.
Brothers Union, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra, Saif Sporting Club are in Group-A, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited, Ranmatganj MFS, Team BJMC are in Group-B, Chittagong Abahani Limited, Arambagh Krira Sangha, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited are in Group-C, Dhaka Abahani Limited, Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra, Farashganj Sporting Club Limited are in Group-D.
The champions will be awarded Taka five lakh, while the runners-up will get Taka three lakh and the participating teams will be given Taka two lakh each.
