British MP calls on DU VC

Paul Scully, MP, a British Conservative Party politician paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman at his office on Thursday.
DU Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Department Chairperson Dr Lafifa Jamal, Professor of the Department of Geography and Environment Nazmun Nahar, Deputy Chairman of Conservative Friends of Bangladesh (CFOB) Abdus Hamid and other leaders of CFOB were present, among others, on the occasion, said a press release here.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues including Rohingya crisis.
The DU VC stressed the need for immediate deployment of UN peacekeeping forces in Myanmar to protect Rohingya Muslims as well as civilians. They also discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs on ICT, business, entrepreneurship and cyber security by the DU and higher education institutions in the UK, the release also said.
