British council delegation calls on UGC member Prof Biswajit Chanda

A-four member delegation from British Council, Dhaka led by its Director (Education) David Maynard called on Professor Dr. Biswajit Chanda, Member, University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh at UGC Bahaban on 03 January 2021. Other Members of the delegation included Nushrat Jahan, Head of Education, Md. Delower Hossain, Project Manager and Naveed Ferdous, Project Coordinator, British Council. Dr. Md. Fakhrul Islam, Director, SPQA Division, UGC, among others, spoke during the time.
During the meeting, they laid emphasis on making the existing relationship and collaboration between UGC and British Council more stronger in the days ahead through undertaking action plan for promotion and internationalization of higher education of Bangladesh and UK. Concept paper needs to be developed to this end and subsequently, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be signed between these two bodies for enhancing the quality of higher education.
UGC Member Professor Biswajit Chanda, in his speech, briefly apprised the delegation of the recent development of tertiary education scenario of Bangladesh. He noted that partnership and collaboration are highly needed to take the country’s tertiary education to the new height. He highly lauded the role, cooperation and assistance from British Council for quality upliftment of higher education of the country. UGC Member sought more and more cooperation and assistance from British Council in the days coming for overall development and excellence in country’s higher education.
The proposed Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) project, Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC), Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF), Cross Border Higher Education (CBHE), online fellowship, blended learning, Going Global, community engagement, leadership capacity, teachers’ training, research collaboration and higher education reform issues came up in the discussion.
