Brisk business of Iftar items in Sylhet

Like every year the Iftar business on the first week of Ramzan kicked off in the Sylhet city with traditional items and new additions.
The city’s bus, train terminals remained crowded throughout the day with people.
Passengers arriving and departing close to iftar time were seen purchasing different items of foods as iftar.
Seasonal makeshift shops, hawkers, restaurants, street food vendors and luxury hotels sold iftar items, foods consumed to break day-long fast by Muslims.
Among many items some of the most popular ones are chola, jilapi, halim, piaju, chop, muri, jhal boot, beguni, ghoogni and alu (potato) or daal (lentil) and nomok para, while Irani kebab, haddi kebab, shami kebab, gurda kebab, sutli kebab, nargisi kebab, fish kebab, beef-kima, kashmiri paratha, nan-khatai, bakarkhani, mughlai paratha, kofta, jhal kochuri, faluda, shahi halim, polao, kalia and korma among many others were on sale.
Apart from scattered vendors on the city street there are also several traditional places of iftar items like Bondarbazar and Ambarkhana in the city, Shah Jalal Darghah Masjid, Mirabazar Road, and Kodamtoly Bus Terminal .
Some special items exclusively for Ramzan were also available at the city’s luxury hotels in the Zindabazar areas to attract VIP customers.
